Biography

Born in Zagreb, 1984. Vanja Babić studied mechanical engineering at Polytechnic of Zagreb, graduated in 2008, and got his art education on multimedia/new media at the Academy of fine arts Zagreb, where he graduated with special honor M.A. in 2013. Currently he works as a assistant lecturer at the department of animated film and new media at the Academy of fine arts Zagreb. He is collaborating with artist Bojan Mucko, presenting social interactive performance art, and he is a part of bigger art collective named PIT, experimenting with new media through their projects.

In the past years, he exhibited his work on many occasions, such as Festival of work and happiness, Pergine Valsugana/Italia (2017), What I said earlier is irrelevant, PIT collective, Zagreb/Cro (2017), 33. Youth Salon, Zagreb/Cro (2016), Transcending cultures Essl Art Award CEE, Vienna/Austria (2013), 48. Zagreb Salon, Zagreb/Cro (2013), and solo shows such as ‘‘Super offer‘‘ (2016), ‘‘Bread from yesterday‘‘ (2016), ‘‘Transformation 1250’’ (2014), “They can be found in trams” (2012).He was awarded as the winner of Essl Art Award (2013), and got special acknowledgement at 33. Youth Salon (2016), special award for best work at exhibition ‘‘Energy’’ (2012), award for the best student in the generation at Academy of fine arts, and a Rector award for group project.
